LEGO keeps finding ways to pull me into themes I didn't think I cared about. I have zero connection to vintage aviation, but looking at this Douglas DC-3 PAN AM Airliner, I kind of want it on my shelf. The set (11378) is part of the LEGO Icons line, comes in at 1,903 pieces, and is clearly built for the display-first adult collector.
What Makes It Special
The DC-3 was one of the most important aircraft in aviation history. It basically made commercial air travel viable in the 1930s, and this set recreates it with a ton of authentic detail. You get a full cockpit and cabin interior, plus functional retractable landing gear operated by a dial mechanism. It sits on a sturdy display stand with an information plaque.
The four exclusive minifigures are a nice addition: a pilot, purser, stewardess, and flight attendant, all wearing historically accurate PAN AM uniforms. LEGO's been getting better at these themed minifigure packs, and period-accurate uniforms are a good touch.
At 20 inches long and 30 inches wide (wingspan), this thing needs shelf space. Pricing is $219.99, which comes out to about $0.12 per piece.

LEGO Insiders get early access on April 1, 2026. General release is April 4, 2026. You'll find it at LEGO.com and LEGO stores.
This feels like it'll be a hit with the same crowd that bought the Concorde and the Globe. LEGO's Icons line has been consistently strong with these big display pieces, and the PAN AM branding adds some real nostalgic appeal.
